Our commitment to the environment

At Coughlin & Associates Ltd., all paper materials are printed on Cascades Rolland Enviro100® copy paper or EarthChoice® office paper from Domtar.

Environmental attributes of Cascades Rolland Enviro100 copy paper include:

• it contains FSC certified 100 per cent post-consumer fibre;
• it is certified EcoLogo, processed chlorine-free and FSC recycled;
• it is manufactured using biogas energy.

We use Cascades Rolland Enviro100 copy paper on:

• daily proofs in our departments’ laser printers;
• our Coughlin Courier newsletter.

 EarthChoice recycled office paper is FSC and Rain Force Alliance certified.  It is manufactured using acid-free and chlorine-free processes.  At Coughlin, it is used primarily for all regular computer printing and photocopying.

In 2010, Coughlin changed its old petroleum-plastic window envelopes to a corn-based window material that is clear, strong and totally compostable. These envelopes are manufactured with 100 per cent green renewable energy. They are composed of FSC^© Certified paper originating from responsibly managed forests.

In 2012 alone, Coughlin recycled more than four tons of waste paper, which, according to recycling industry estimates, saved the equivalent of approximately 74 trees from destruction.

We also use electronic tablets in place of binders and paper during trustee meetings.  As well, to reduce paper usage, all plan documents, meeting minutes and other related information relating to client benefits and pension plans are stored on secure electronic portals that can be accessed via the Coughlin web site.
