Client Accounting Administrator – Winnipeg location

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a candidate to fill a full time position as a Client Accounting Administrator. The candidate will be responsible for initial input for benefits database, payables, account reconciliations, and is the primary contact for benefits administration inquiries and correspondence.

  • Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for numerous client accounts
    Provision of accounting technical expertise to the Client Accounting Administrator team
    Preparation of investment accounting working papers and related journal entries for client accounts
    Preparation and review of financial statements, account analyses and reconciliations
    Support the administration of one or more client funds, including direct communication with fund members, as required, to respond to member enquiries

Core Qualifications

The candidate is required to have a minimum of two years of post-secondary education in Accounting or Administration. A combination of relevant education and 1-2 years related experience is required.

Key attributes, skills and experience required for this role include the following:

  • Strong mathematical and grammatical abilities and be skillful in the use of Excel as well as the adaptability to learn all in-house systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and have the ability to maintain good public relations, both within and outside the organization.
  • Must be a team player willing to work alongside others, providing support and willing to leverage the expertise of colleagues, in addition to being able to work independently. Senior Client Accountant – Winnipeg location

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a candidate to fill a full time position as a Senior Client Accountant. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for numerous client accounts
    Provision of accounting technical expertise to the Client Accounting Administrator team
    Preparation of investment accounting working papers and related journal entries for client accounts
    Preparation and review of financial statements, account analyses and reconciliations
    Support the administration of one or more client funds, including direct communication with fund members, as required, to respond to member enquiries
  • Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for numerous client accounts
  • Provision of accounting technical expertise to the Client Accounting Administrator team

Core Qualifications

The candidate must have a post-secondary degree or college diploma in Accounting or Business Administration. A combination of relevant education and 3-5 years related experience is required. Enrolment in CPA program will be considered a definite asset.

The candidate must demonstrate a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and must have previous experience in auditing practices, account analysis, reconciliations, internal controls, tax form submissions, quality control, financial statement preparation and review. Key attributes, skills and experience required for this role include the following:

  • Highly-motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and professional demeanor. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; completion of work in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Familiar with general office procedures and able to use basic office equipment.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word) and financial management software (i.e.,Simply Accounting and ACCPAC); adaptable to learn all in-house systems.
  • Strong mathematical, grammatical, reconciliation and spelling abilities; attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting for multiple entities, including the preparation of adjusting entries and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing effective processes/procedures and monitoring compliance with internal controls and quality assurance processes.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment; willingness to leverage the expertise of colleagues while also being able to work well independently. 
  • Must be a team player, able to work collaboratively with others for the purpose of resolving issues, improving processes and providing support to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude; maintain professional image and positive public relations, both within and outside the organization.
  • Superior communication skills; communicate effectively with all clients and work-related contacts both verbally and in writing.  
  • Liaise directly with external auditors; assist Operations Manager in coordinating the interim and year-end audit schedules. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and competing priorities; ability to organize Client Accounting team to achieve reporting and audit deadlines.
  • Willingness to present creative ideas and contribute to a positive work environment that fosters growth, learning, development, collaboration and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tact, discretion and maintain information in the strictest of confidence following the Privacy Act.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as required, to meet deadlines and the requirements of this role.
  • Other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Knowledge of the employee benefits industry would be considered a definite asset.
